What is a Life Coach?

A life coach is a type of wellness professional who assists people in making life changes to achieve better fulfilment. Life coaches help their clients improve their relationships, professions, and general well-being.

Life coaches can help you in defining your objectives, identify the barriers preventing you from achieving them, and develop plans of action to overcome each one. By developing these plans or actions, your life coach specifically targets your special talents and abilities, assisting you in long-lasting transformation.

Quit Smoking

Just the thought of quitting smoking can be daunting. It is estimated that 75% of current smokers want to quit, so why don’t they? It’s because, for most people, giving up is incredibly difficult.

Maybe you have attempted several times before and it hasn’t been successful, making you feel like a failure. You have found yourself in a vicious cycle of quitting then stressing and feeling uncomfortable without the smokes, then taking them back up again only to feel defeated. The Australian Cancer Council suggests it takes 12-14 attempts to quit.

Many smokers know the negative health consequences of smoking, but still can’t manage to kick the habit. And for those of us (or have family members) who smoke around our children second-hand smoke is a huge health concern. With all this information and awareness still, we find this addiction so immensely stressful and almost impossible to give up.

Why Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy reframes your mindset to where your desire and dedication to becoming a non-smoker out-weighs your fear of failure. Hypnotherapy assists with quitting the smokes and wards off some of the symptoms associated with it. Quitting the smokes with Hypnotherapy gets you back into the driver’s seat of your life.

According to the Australian hypnotherapist Association research has found.

“In a recent stop smoking study, where smokers attended individual hypnotherapy for stop smoking over three sessions, 81% had stopped smoking after the treatment ended, and at a 12 month followup nearly 50% remained smoke free. And 95% of the people were satisfied with their treatment."

What will it take to become a non-smoker?

There are 3 dependencies that are addressed in Hypnotherapy so that quitting becomes successful. These are;

  • Nicotine dependency – When you wake up each morning craving a cigarette it’s because of nicotine dependency. Nicotine is a highly addictive drug and as you sleep the level of nicotine decreases in your bloodstream. When upon waking you feel the need to light one up, or a few in quick succession to restore the nicotine level in the bloodstream to get to a comfortable level.

  • Habitual dependency - All smokers have habitual dependencies, some of these include smoking when having a cup of coffee or talking on the phone, smoking when drinking alcohol or when you drive a car or machinery. These are habits that are formed over the years of smoking, and these must be changed in order to successfully quit smoking.

  • Psychological dependency - It is very common to light a cigarette when we are stressed, lonely, bored or frustrated. Psychologically dependency occurs when cigarettes are used to change our mood or as a coping mechanism to deal with unpleasant emotions.

The uncomfortable feeling/s when we first stop the smokes is called nicotine withdrawal. These symptoms can be physical and/or psychological. Some of these include cravings for nicotine, nausea, headache, irritability, anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

Why Quit Smoking?

Whatever your age or how long you have been smoking, the benefits of quitting smoking are instant and they include;

  • Reduced likelihood of disease or premature death

  • Better breathing

  • Less stress

  • Higher energy levels

  • Financial benefits

  • Healthier lifestyle

  • Sense of taste and smell returns

  • Healthier family & children

What is the cost of a packet of cigarettes?

Cigarette prices in Australia are said to be the most expensive in the world. Currently, a packet of smokes costs around $45 with certain price hikes every year. A person who smokes a pack a day spends $315 or more per week on cigarettes.
